I met two of my first cousins this week!

    Jan 2, 2014 · Leave a Comment

I have seven first cousins on my mother's side and until this week I had never met any of them! Three grew up in Texas and the other four in South Carolina then Kansas. I have never made it to see any of them.

But this week two of them came to visit us with their spouses and children in two separate visits.

First came cousin Heather with her husband Eric on Monday. They spent Christmas in Las Vegas and stopped by on their way to the Holiday Bowl - Wreck 'em Tech!

Obviously I did not get the memo and was not appropriately attired. Mom, Heather and most of the family went to Texas Tech. But, my college colors were purple and gold (Fear the Poet!) so technically we are all wearing our school colors so I am sort of on the right track.

Today, Heather's big brother Scott, wife Stephanie and children came by. They had spent Christmas in Vegas but went to San Francisco and Monterey before coming back down this way.

It was great to meet them and we spent plenty of time sharing family stories. Like any good big sister, Mom gave them plenty of stories about their father's youth. Hee Hee - it is in our job description!

And the best part of the day for me was J being a good host and letting his little cousin play with his toys and not tell him how to do it (much), then showing him Curious George on his iPad upon demand, and the little guy asked him "show me George again" quite a few times.

He even showed them all of his new Star Wars pens that he has found in his cereal boxes and told them what color each of them wrote in UNPROMPTED (that is huge for J).

Two great visits with a rough tantrummy day in between - I am beat.

    Happy New Year all! Nitey-nite!
