Imagine yourself standing in the middle of over two thousand American flags all flying in honor of the members of our American Armed Services and First Responders. I can tell you it is an awe inspiring feeling.
The Murrieta Field of Honor is annual event sponsored by the Murrieta Rotary Club that raises money for various local charities as well as earning money to build permanent War Memorials in the park. There are special events to be held each day, and every fifth grader in town will be brought over to have a special lesson during the week. This inspiring event starts tomorrow, November 9th, and runs through November 16th.
I will be heading over one day next week to take some pictures of this year's event and will share them here. But I wanted to be sure to let anyone in Southern California know about the event. If you are in the area and looking for something to do this weekend, particularly something with a little educational twist, I recommend you head on over. It is an easy drive off of the 15 Freeway (exit Kalmia/California Oaks). Visit their website for more information and more photos. And if you want to sponsor a flag in honor of your service person, you are more than welcome to put down Cole Canyon Elementary as the charity, (shameless plug, I know)!
Some photos from the last few years:
Hope to see you there. If you can't make it, tune in next week for some new photos.
