My husband, the Math Instructor, likes to remind me that statistics are both the universal truth and the universal liar. Case in point:
According to Weather Currents a website with a monitoring station just a few blocks away from me:
- the average rainfall in my area is a bit over 12 inches a year (from July 1).
- we have received about 8 inches of rain this year.
That's about 75% of normal. Sounds bad, but not horrible, right?
Except 5 inches of that has fallen in the last two days!
I'd share some pictures of the water streaming down the street because the ground just can't hold anymore, but I am staying inside and dry. Here's as close as I am going to get.
Hopefully this added to the snowpack in the mountains which California relies on for water. We haven't had the fires that many other areas of Southern California have had, so I am not expecting the mud slides other areas are getting. But if the winds continue I could see a lot of trees toppling in this mushy ground.
Luckily the weather looks warm and dry for a few weeks so we can dry out. No, that wasn't a complaint my snow covered friends. Just a hope that everyone stays safe.
