Friday morning started out so promising. After dropping J off at school we headed over to Hobby Lobby where I found some cute Veggie Tales World Map fleece that was 30% off! woohoo! Instead of getting right on that blanket, I messed around on the computer, including posting on FB how much I was looking forward to going to the Fourth Level of Hell on Saturday for a birthday party (more commonly known as Chuck E Cheese). I am a SAHM, I don't get out much so even that sounded exciting.
I sent Hubby to pick up J while I stayed and waited for the sprinkler guy (who never showed, grr!). J came in with bright pink cheeks, uh oh! I checked his lunch box. He had only eaten about an ounce of Cheetos in a full day at school. Double uh oh! I broke out the therMOMeter, kissed him on the forehead and then pressed it against my cheek. Didn't feel hot. We tried to get him to have a little snack but he just wanted to play.
Dinner was a struggle, a little chicken and a few noodles. TherMOMeter came out again. Okay, now he is getting warm. And then he told us he wanted to go to bed. MY KID? wants to go to bed? Quadruple uh oh! Sure he'd been up since 4:30 am, but he's done that before many times and just been whiny. He NEVER asks to go to sleep. Up for a cool bath that lasted less than 5 minutes, some ibuprofen and a few books How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon and The Berenstain Bears Go To The Doctor. And he was out! an hour early.
I stayed up and finished the blanket, thinking that would be a nice treat for him in the morning. Isn't it cute? Within 30 minutes of me finally getting in to bed, Mt Vesuvius erupted. There went the the few bites of chicken and noodles. Ugh! His father turned into Chicken Little while stripping the bed and getting angry that his son is sick and ranting about whether we have enough medicine and should we call the doctor and blah blah blah just like he does every time J get sick. I took his temperature for real this time and it was 104 (didn't tell his father, sshhh!) Into the tub to clean up and cool down, wrapped in two towels afterwards for the chills, more ibuprofen and then back to bed. Rinse and repeat for another 36 hours or so.
All the while I am praying Hubby and I don't get it despite the fact that J keeps coughing directly into our faces! Really, we are working on the coughing in the elbow technique.
Monday morning it was my turn: fever, chills, cough and pure exhaustion. But Mommy's can't get sick. My neighbor even told me that when I answered the door and she took one look at me and knew I was sick. I shooed her away after thanking her profusely for the awesome soup she coincidentally brought me because I didn't want to spread the germies.
And then I did something I haven't done in 5 years. I let myself be sick while Daddy and J did whatever it is they did. I think they went to the park and grocery store in there somewhere. I passed out on the couch and did nothing all day. And I feel so much better today because of it.

Hope you are feeling better soon. That stuff is nasty and it is going around. Glad you took some time for your to recuperate. It is what you probably needed most.

First, grrr to the sprinkler guy! I hate when people don't carry through when they've given their word. It's no way to run a business, and it certainly doesn't build trust.
Second, that Veggie Tales blanket is so stinkin' cute! I'll bet it gave a lot of comfort to your little one, too.
Also, I'm glad your husband lent you a hand. It was good of him to step up in the cleaning and entertaining department. Whenever someone starts sicking up around my husband, he immediately joins them. It would be funny if it weren't so frustrating. (Actually it is kind of funny sometimes, but don't tell him.)
I hope you're getting the rest you need, and that you feel much better soon. Hang in there!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog, earlier.
