    There went my entire morning.

    Sep 3, 2014 · Leave a Comment

I spent four hours this morning looking up at this lovely sight.

Well, not exactly looking up at it, because I usually close my eyes when the dentist shines that spotlight in my eyes. I also do it to prevent flying debris from getting in my eyes. It also helps me find my happy place where there is no grinding sound or burning tooth smell.

I haven't been to the dentist in a few years. Okay, over 3 years if you want to know the truth. But, I cracked a crown on Saturday and even though it didn't hurt, I knew it was time to pay the piper.

After dropping J off at school I rode my bike to the dentist's office to get tortured in the mouth and the wallet. Because you know while they had me in the chair they conned me into a long overdue cleaning, plus they found another cavity. But, hey, at least I still have all of my own teeth (minus the three removed when I was a kid and needed braces).

It took six shots of Novocain for the crown and a filling because on that side of my mouth the Novacain takes effect almost immediately but doesn't last long. The dentist was a little amazed at how quickly.

Luckily, they had the air conditioner turned to 69 degrees. Cold for most people, but quite refreshing for a "woman of a certain age". First time I have been miserably hot in months.

Keeping my mouth open wide enough for the dentist to reach the back tooth with all of that equipment most of that 4 hours, plus the shots, plus not eating, plus the bike ride there and back in the heat with hills like this:

it's safe to say I am pretty much wiped out. Only 4 ½ hours to go until bedtime.

    I got... snore....  thiszzzzzzz....
