Who could guess the they would turn out that way!
Why can't they be like we were,
Perfect in every way?
What's the matter with kids?
What's the matter with kids?
What's the matter with kids today?
Sing it, Paul Lynde! I loved Bye Bye Birdie and that song in particular.
Like many "older" people, I sometimes wonder what is going to become of our society when I look at the youth around me. They are glued to their cell phones, they are disrespectul, rude, bullies, enititled.
We have plenty of kids in our neighborhood from 1 ½ years old all the way up to seniors in high school. One of the seniors we have known since we moved in seven years ago is the daughter of one of my dear friends. She is smart, sweet, hardworking, funny and beautiful. She always goes out of her way to say hi to my son (and make sure he makes eye contact). Before she even got in to high school the boys were buzzing around her house. And, at least until recently, she had a steady boyfriend.
The Winter Formal was last weekend. For those of you outside of the US, or who may not remember all the way to high school, at most schools it is usually a semi-formal couples dance. Not quite as big of a deal as prom, but pretty close. And, get this, my neighbor had THREE dates! Yes, you read that right, this girl had dates with three different boys for the same night. All of them were special needs students in the class she TA's for. The Assistant Principal has offered her an aide position immediately upon high school graduation, but her current plans are to go into the military and study nursing and eventually work with special needs individuals.
What's the matter with these kids today? Not much, if she is any indication.
